Memoir Monday: Valentine FAIL

You may have heard that it snowed a little out here.

It's true. Perhaps, as my friend Kim suggested, clergy workers used their direct line to The Divine to get out of work two weekends in a row.

I'm not sure I'm buying that, but I do know that we had two feet of the stuff, and another storm is coming this Tuesday night.

Luckily, we are prepared:

So, what does one do with two housebound toddlers?

This took about five minutes. (Also, FYI. Sponge Bob toothpaste + swallowing=vomit.)

Now what?

How about we take a page from Mrs. 4444 and make adorable Valentine's Day Cards? We'll do what her kids did and SPELL OUT "I Love You," using their bodies!

That would be as adorable as a basket of fluffy kittens singing Kum-Bah-Ya.

This was an epic FAIL.

"I" is adequate, although Owen looks like he's doing "Light as a Feather/Stiff as a Board."

On to "L." I decided to bring Joel in to assist:

Except for the jar of Butt Paste in the frame, Joel missing the top of his head, and Owen looking constipated, this is a treasure.  It totally looks like a "L." Right? RIGHT?

I tried to use Joel again to make an "E."

I must say that Joel totally isn't getting my Artistic Vision. Away with him!

I used my older trained monkey to make a series of yogic poses/semaphore codes to approximate various letters of the alphabet.  Can you tell what's the Y, O, V, and U?

Paul couldn't either.

They say never work with kids or animals.

Off to plan B...
I

 Love

You

So, there's that. Another Martha Stewart moment, courtesy of yours truly. To distract you, here are some more pictures of snow.

Did I mention that we lost power for three hours yesterday?

Fun.

I thought her idea was adorable... and now I'm scared of it!! I think I'll stick with my original plan- I make a cute sign and they hold it up and say cheese...

When we lived in the old neighborhood, we would lose power during winter storms for WEEKS!! When I was pregnant with my youngest (had just found out) it was the end of July and we lost power due to a thunderstorm...power out only 4 days.

Then, there was a huge ice storm that snapped lines everywhere...power out for 7 days. The people across the street didn't get power for another 3 or 4 days.

We were the lucky ones....we got our power back rather quickly!

Glad your power wasn't out too long.

Oh, and I am completely in love with Joel...he is 100% adorable! Older trained monkey is cute too, but Joel has that blond hair like my son and...that's just too cute!

Good thing you included Joel in the photos and I here therapy is the "in" thing once you graduate from college and right before you get married.

I like the first set of pictures where there are no letters. Anyone can get there kids to do that, so NOT original = P

We got snow in Minnesnowda. Go figure = )

I had about $200 worth of Pix-os for Faith to use throughout the year. She used them this weekend. At least I'm making them read an hour and "exercise their brains" with Sudko.

I'm lucky they are old enough to entertain themselves for some periods of time. However, I've played a lot of card games and board games this weekend (turning into five days now).

OMG I LOVE THIS POST!!!!
... I couldn't stop laughing at the boys attempts at the letters. Way too funny.

You're killing me with stuff like;
"away with him" and "trained monkey" ~ "coffee out my nose" kinda funny.

Very cute at the end with the I love you. So sweet.

You rock!!!

I like how you prepare! Snow storm and wine doesn't sound too bad. Hope you've got a good supply of firewood. :-)

...but think of the great story you now have to go along with the photos!!! And, I think if you tested me I'd score pretty high on which photo is which letter :O) Of course my life's profession is body language.

Wait

That sounded wrong

Never mind. I'm too tired to back myself out of that one.

hmmm....that didn't really make it sound any better....

GREAT JOB! Loved the post
*big cheeser grin*

Awww, at least you got a good story out of plan A. And plan B is super cute!

The letters they made with their bodies look like my mother's handwriting: illegible, but they are hilarious.

I tried Mrs. 4444's idea with my kids, too, but some of the letters looked kind of incestuous so we just went back to killing people in our video games. I'm sure the grandparents will understand.

i bet they would spell MORE GOLDFISH in like 2 seconds

with little to no assistance

Good luck surviving the snow and the kids. Perhaps instead of spelling, you could have them act out scenes from great tragedies in Literature. No? Oh well, just an idea.

I hope you don't freeze!

OMG! Your picture of the other child to avoid future therapy note. Cracked me up!

The card pictures are adorable! My kids are probably too big and rangey to do this with.
