What Would Have Been Friday Fragments if I Wasn't So Lazy

I love the fact that Owen has a secret life, where he learns things outside of our bubble of influence.

For example, the other day, he was washing his hands in the bathroom, and we heard him singing, "Oh when the germs/Go marching out/Oh when the germs go marching out!/That's when you wash/With soap and water!/When the germs go marching out!"

The song is both germphobic and contagious, which is kinda perfect when you think about it.

How do people wear cute shoes? I decided the other day to celebrate the sunshine and wear little red canvas slip-ons.

I think it took the distance from my doorstep to the car to get a blister on each heel.

Some people go to shoe stores and have shoegasms. My feet twitch and quiver, fearful of another whupping.

I may feel young at heart, but I have the feet of a crone.

Joel has his eye-appointment next week. They upped his prescription, and if it doesn't improve the lazy eye, the doctor is considering bifocals.

My baby is going to look like Ed Asner.

I would tell you how baby bifocals work, but I wasn't listening. All I heard in my head was "Bifocals, bifocals, bifocals."

****

That's it for now!

I think he's going to look adorable in those baby bifocals!

Ed Asner has nothin' on your baby! He'll be makin' those bifocals look cuter than you ever thought possible.

Oh, and cute shoes are, to me, the best accessory a girl can find. Now I don't do heals. I'm 4'8" so what's the point. I could add four inches and still be damn short, so I figure if people are looking down, they should take me all in. I dress up my feet and I tell you, the trick is to stick it out. Wear your blistery shoes every other day for a few days and the blisters will turn to callouses and you'll be rockin' those reds all day!

Of course, I grew up in the south. I hardly wore shoes until I got to school age, and even then it was on during school hours. I was walking on those prickly gumballs as soon I could stand on my own.

I can't wear shoes with closed-in heels for just that reason. I have tough-as-leather soles and tender heels.
Your son will be adorable, no matter what.

love these fragments, and Owen singing the germ song. Cute cute cute, and like you said, perfect. I hope Joel's meds work. He will NEVER look like Ed Asner, silly Nancy. And you know, screw the cute shoes. You are cute and smart enough to never need them.

I know what you mean about the secret life, although to me it feels a little wierd and make me feel kinda sad.

I wear painfully cute shoes once or twice a year: when we go out on our anniversary, and if I happen to go to a wedding. Other than that, it's Crocs and ballet flats all the way. I never leave home, so it doesn't matter.

Love Owen's song, and I love this comment on your blog:

"Of course, I grew up in the south. I hardly wore shoes until I got to school age, and even then it was on during school hours..." This strikes me as hilarious, because it's so stereotypically Southern (or so I've heard). Could this be turned into a blog post? What are the stereotypes to your region that are TRUE?

That boy is awesome, with or without bifocals.

I love cute shoes, but I always wind up in pain.

I love Owen's song. And I'm sure Joel will be absolutely adorable in any eyewear!

Joel is one of the cutest boys I have ever seen. Way cuter than Ed Asner.

Here's my secret for cute shoes. Mole skin. You can buy it where they sell the Dr. Scholls and all that stuff at Walmart or wherever.

I have really wide feet and tiny heels so I had to find something to avoid blisters even from tennis shoes.

I agree, I think he will look adorable. Are they doing this so that they can correct his eyes and hopefully one day not need glasses?
