So Deprived

I don't have cable anymore. We only have the main channels and PBS now.

This has changed my life dramatically:

1) I am no longer jealous of Paul's infatuation with CNN's Robin Meade. Move along, honey. He's taken, and he can't watch you anymore to "stay informed."

2. Our marriage will no longer be under siege due to my HGTV-induced rantings. What man doesn't love comments like, "You need to put up crown molding NOW! Get off the couch and DO IT!"

3. No more Backyardigans. Not to worry, though. Most of the kiddie songs are on the iPod. (Tell me this one isn't catchy--I will listen to it when driving alone. It's the James Brown horns that suck me in.)

4. I will be even more out-of-touch with pop culture, now that I no longer have The Soup, RuPaul's Drag Race, My Life on the D-List, Project Runway, or The Real Housewives to teach me about style, fashion, and class.

5. There is a silver lining to all this, however...

....the decreased exposure to Spencer Pratt has improved my life immensely. I can breathe easier, knowing this ass-hat has one less person talking about his miserable, fame-whoring ways.

Oh, snap.

EW! He has the worst kind of crazy eyes!!
You will be ok. I think even I would be ok without cable. Except I'd miss True Blood and have to Netflix it or something. That's really the only show I watch.

Robin Meade is a twit.

I can ALMOST honestly say we have never had cable. I think we had it for about a year.........about 10 years ago.

I'm a bit concerned that budget cuts could result in an enforced HGTV withdrawal at our house too! Nice to know life goes on!

I think HGTV is rotting my wife's brain. Don't tell her I said that though.

Anything that removes Spencer Pratt from our lives gets a thumbs up from me! Creepy eyes, a flesh colored beard, and well, just a fool! I love my TV, but do think it can be an evil time sucker!

For my husband, it's Maria Bartiromo on CNBC. Cause we've got to keep an eye on the market, don't you know.

I said I would cancel the cable after I had the baby. She'll be a month old tomorrow.

You know how I feel about that douchecanoe. That's the best reason to cancel cable!

I'm planning on getting rid of cable this summer. It will be hard to say goodbye to Jon Stewart.

hahaha I always love to read your blog, it gets me out of self, which is a wonderful thing today!

Can't stand that Spencer Pratt, yay! he is an ass-hat! I agree!

As for us, we have Direct TV, the basic stuff so we don't get True Blood (which I have the first season and can't wait to see season 2) that is ok. We get our daily dose of Little Bear and Chowder to name a few and Dora and Diego...those songs get stuck in my head! Go Diego, Go!

Welcome to the world of the mostly out of touch! Of course, there is still TMZ and if you're up for an infuriating romp into hilarious, there's the bachelorette.

Who needs cable to rot the brain?

Now if you'll excuse me, I cannot serve two masters and the bachelorette is calling...

Congrats on pulling the plug! We still spend waaay too much money each month to have The Real Plastic Skanks of The Jersey Shore piped into our home.

Netflicks. Do the Netflicks.

I've been thinking about doing the same....we only watch nick jr anymore anyway. I can't remember the last time I saw the news or even watched a program geared towards adults.

Blogging supplies my need for corruption these days

I've never seen him on TV! I feel I'm living a blessed life:)

Going me in the ranks of never having cable - except for when I was at NAU, that is. Like noisycolorfullively said, there's lots of trash on network TV - including my hubby's personal favorite, Hell's Kitchen. Ugh.

I've never seen him or that heidi chick, on TV except for the tabloids! I have no idea why they're famous! I haven't had cable in almost two years and am doing super fine! xD

OMG! Please say you aren't getting rid of the internet too! I could not live without cable. In fact, I don't know of a single TV show on regular TV. (I'm assuming it's still ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX, right?)

I'd love to get rid of most TV... I just always seem to live with TV lovers. C'est la vie.

My daughter mentioned something to me about Spencer having healing crystals - which I am oblivious to who Spencer is and what healing crystals are - but I was wondering if you thought that getting some of those would help you deal better with the feelings of deprivation you are having ;-)
