Bringing out the Fun in Fascism

I caught this shot of Joel the other day.

Because I blog, I'm always looking for cheap gags witty observations to share.

Flipping though my camera phone,  I said to Paul, "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

"No," he replied. "Whatever it is, I am not."

I barrelled on, "You don't think he looks like Kim Jong Il in this picture?"

My husband shook his head. "Really, Nancy? You're comparing our son to a dictator?"

"Yes really! I shall call him Joel Jong Il. That's comedy, right there!" I smiled to myself, imagining the comments pouring, like a bubbling stream of validation.

We sat together in amiable silence for a moment. "Paul?"

He looked up from his phone, "Yes, dear?"

"Would it be in bad taste to dress Owen up like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad?"

He half smiled. "And how would you plan on doing that?"

I knew the answer to this one. "Button up shirt. Coffee ground beard."

"Nancy," he said, as kindly as he could, "Dressing our children up as dictators? As bad, bad men?  That's just really, really weird."

I pictured Owen with that coffee ground beard. "You don't think it would be funny?"

"No. Would it be funny to dress the boys up like Hitler or Mussolini?"

I frowned, "That's totally different."

He stood up, placed his dirty plate in the sink, and said, "No, honey. It's not different at all."

Well. So much for comedy gold.

Have you ever mistaken a clump of poop for comedy gold?

Hitler can be done funny. Ever seen Rat Race (the new one)? Or John Cleese goose stepping in Faulty Towers? Hysterical!

Oh, and Mel Brooks made the inquisition a hilarious musical number. Even though most people find very little humor in the inquisition.

I think the problem is your audience.

Joel Jong II is pretty funny. I want to pronounce it "yo-el, yong" Would that be correct?

I have all these funny ideas about Peanut's head running around in my own head. You know, like we could go to "Craniums R Us" to buy him a helmet. Or, we could dress him up like a dolphin because the ridge on his forehead looks like a dorsal fin. Shayne wasn't as amused as I was by any of this.

Poop is absolutely freakin' hilarious, as is Joel Jong II.

Paul actually speaks Korean, so I'll ask him the proper punctuation.

I thought it was funny -- oh well! I'm always in hysterics when no one else is laughing. I like your new header picture.

Oh it takes many clumps of poop to finally reach comedy gold. BTW, I totally see the resemblance.

When my son was giving me hell inside my belly, we used to call him Osama Bin Ian. (And we still do occasionally!) So my friend and long-lost twin, if you are sick than so am I!!!

I see a slight resemblance. If he was blond, I mean.

That is comedy!!
I tell my husband that EVERYTHING is blog worthy and when something happens he looks at me and says "DO NOT put that on the blog" as I am hysterically laughing.

Okay so maybe I don't have the same sense of comedy....but mine is still funny!

A clump of poop is quite frequently comedy gold.

Joke that falls flat = chestnut

That was on Jeopardy last night.

And yes, he looks like Jong Il and I'm betting he can certainly be a bit of a dictator around the house!

I have never mistaken a clump of poop for comedy gold. Never ever.

Maybe it's just because I'm really weird, but I think those would have made for some hysterical photos. The two of them together!? I would have fallen out of my chair.

Joel is so adorable!

Always! I probably should be committed, but I have a former student who thrived on his own creepiness. He would do and say things just to "enhance" his creepiness. One of his favorites was telling dead baby jokes - so inappropriate and so karmatically (my word, but feel free to use it) wrong. Still, I couldn't help but laugh when he told one. They were stupid, but funny...in a very morbid, very I'm-going-straight-to-hell-for-laughing kind of way.

Yes, that cracked me up. Like out loud cracking up, and it was comic gold. SO, there, Mr. C, it takes a lot to make me LOL.
