Embarrassing Crushes

I think I married a good-looking guy. He has blue eyes the color of blown glass, and a kind smile. He's a marathon runner, and consequently has zero body fat and nice abs.

But, then again, what do I know about attractive? I find all sorts of weirdos attractive.

Like this guy:

Hugh Laurie, aka Dr. House. I rarely watch the show, but when I do, I'm lost in those eyes. I'll even excuse the facial hair. Bonus points for being secretly British.

It gets worse.

Malcolm Gladwell. He has his PhD in Awesome. I'll read anything this man writes. Even economic theory. Then, I'll use his glorious hair as my loofah.

It gets worse yet.

Yes, I have a huge crush on Michael Emerson, aka Benjamin Linus from "Lost." His character is delightfully creepy, and when he quotes Of Mice and Men, I get weak in the knees. Plus, his eyes can bulge out of his head!

Here's the most embarrassing one yet: when I was in sixth grade, I saw a Star Trek movie---the one about the Humpback Whales. I left that movie in love with this guy:

Yes, that's right. Pavel Chekov lit my fire. The Russian accent, the uniform. Hotness personified.

I cannot believe I just shared that, Internet.

Go on now. Tell me. It will be cleansing. What is your most EMBARRASSING crush?

PS--No actual hotties. I want to hear about the Crushes That Must Not Be Named.

PPS--That is, unless you only like hotties. I guess you could share those.

Ah Hugh Laurie is cute esp. when he speaks with his accent. Now that other Lost guy, he creeps me out!

As for crushes that must not be named: Conan O'Brien! He's so freakishly tall - I love it!

Your secret is safe with me! It's funny, I find the likes of George Clooney very attractive, but when it comes down to it, a great smile, laugh and sense of humor are ultimately has me melting.

You probably already know that I have an thing for Kevin Spacey - I cannot get enough of that man. I see it as an intellectual attraction more than anything, but just there's something about him... :)

LOL about Malcolm Gladwell - that's awesome. Love his books, the hair? Not so much.

My first crush was Andy Williams when I was 6. The next one I remember was Tom Jones, so that must have been after my hormones kicked in. I also had a thing for the nerdy guy on the Electric Company, so clearly I was exploring what exactly "my type" was.... Do love Hugh Laurie and George Clooney, though!

Your husband is adorable. House I can see. The others... let's just say our tastes differ. If I'm going to go outside my normal type for oogling, I tend toward bulky and big.

*ROFL!* Have I mentioned lately how glad I am I found your blog?

1. Hugh Laurie is sexy. 2. I dont know about that guy with all the hair and 3. I can see where Ben Linus is kinda sexy. I think it's the power thing of his character.

I was with you at Hugh Laurie, and then you lost me. But I think your husband is a cutie-patodie (score one for you!), and that it says a lot about you that you are attracted to intelligent men (score two for you).

I find men with big noses hotter than hot. Think Adrien Brody.

I have this wicked attraction to Shaq (with the wandering eye - I know), Malik Yoba (New York Undercover, Cool Runnings) and Steve J. Harris (the Black lawyer on tv show The Practice). Yeah, of all the HOTT guys out there, I end up looking at guys who are bald, dark, plump and have thick luscious lips. That has always been the type of guy I find attractive. I'm pretty sure my hubby knows it too since I drool uncontrollably every time I see them on tv. I also am fond of Brad Pitt, but then again, who isn't??

Heck even men who are straight think Brad Pitt is HOTT!

I think your hubby bares quite a resemblance to your crushes. He looks Hugh Laurie-ish. You married your crush-type. How sweet! Marathon runner - does he get you involved in that??

Ok so we all know I love Gerard Butler..but what you dont know and shouldnt know is that I like the older type..shhhh..!! Alex Trebec...and yes Simon Cowell..Ok i said it..dont tell..!

Yeah. I like the "different" looking guys. Adrien Brody is a great example. I'm having a hard time thinking. Robert Duvall. Major crush on him. Anthony Bourdain- yeah. He does it for me and I'm not sure why. Long and lanky? Pretty eyes? The whole bad boy thing? Who knows? I have to say though that I was watching a movie with George Clooney in it the other day and although he is as classically handsome as he can be, there is something else there which just makes me tingle. His sense of humor, I think. His ability to make fun of himself.
But my favorite, favorite is Bill Murray. God, I love him.

Hugh Laurie makes me drool on my pillow. Davy Jones, Colin Firth, Sean Connery, any Baldwin brother, and gosh darn Willie Nelson. OH! Tom Hanks, too.

2nd try...

So I think Ben Linus is potentially your most embarrassing. It's the bug eyes.

Not sure I have any creepy crushes. I'm totally into Dr. Oz - the fact that he is a wealth of medical knowledge - and that one of his books helped me lose a ton of weight - totally turns me on.

I also love Simon Cowell - it's the V-neck undershirts, the snappy remarks, and, of course, the super-hot British accent.

I find Hugh Laurie oddly sexy too!

Love Hugh Laurie.. totally have a crush on him.
After that... you lost me.
But, I will be giggling over Chekov for the rest of the day. That cracked me right up. :)

Oh, okay... most embarassing crush was Gilligan when I was a kid.
There. I said it.

I think Hugh Laurie has "something" about him, too!

I also like Nicolas Cage, though I don't really watch many movies he's in. He's just cute.

And always have had a thing for Charley Sheen, although I rarely watch his show!No time & the content is...well, questionable.

But then again, I watch Seinfeld....figure that out!

P.S. Oh, yeah....Kraemer from Seinfeld- he's got it going on (according to him!)

When my mom would watch Lawrence Welk, there was a singer on there named Guy. LOVED his smile and curly hair. Now there's a local news anchor in Detroit named... Guy. Love his boring delivery and frizzy hair. It's a GUY thing, I guess. I even suggested we name one of our boys Guy. My husband didn't go for it :(

Let's see. It was Larry Manetti (Rick) on Magnum PI, it was James MacArthur on Hawaii 50, it was Parker Stephenson from the Hardy Boys, It was Dirk Benedict from BattleStar Galatica, It was Les McKneown from the Bay City Rollers...are you seeing the pattern here?

The side kicks. The underdog, the overshadowed.

But I have to add to my list Hugh Laurie, Brett Favre and Mark Harmon.

Wow...finally a forum in which I can admit this.

Pinkie swear, no laughing though, ok?

Alex Trebek a few years ago when his hair was salt and pepper.

Please say you're not laughing....

Great post. Thanks for making me laugh, loved scrolling down for each surprise. I think your hubby is adorable, as for the other guys, well, yeah, no wonder they are secrets.
I can't think of any good ones, though I know I have them.
I'm in love with Super Nanny.

Oh my gosh. I think you might have the funniest crushes known to man! You love a man with eyes that bug out of his head : ). Your husband is a cutie! And I am not sure what blown glass is but blue sounds delightful! Such a GREAT post : )

Hugh makes me weak in the knees. That guy is seriously gorgeous. I think it's the dry wit and for me, the scruff. Serioulsy the scruff.

I like men to be unshaven. I want him to look a little dirty and unkempt, I think it's the hippy in me. I haven't seen Leo without facial hair in over 10 years. His scruffy face makes me feel right in the world.

well I love the guy from House, I never knew he had an accent until the other day, so cute! Ok, I love Keifer Sutherland and Sam Elliott (he is so hot in Tombstone) and I love Kurt Russell. I also like the guy who announces on HBO Boxing, "Let's Get Ready To Rumble" love him all gray! Guess I like older men? or the ones that are gray?

When I saw Hugh Laurie's picture, my first thought is, "What is she talking about? He's not bad!" But when I got to the next picture and certainly to Ben's picture, I started to think, "Yep, she's got odd taste!" HAHA!

Hey, nothing wrong with that though. I find myself attracted to some geeky guys sometimes, too.

Yes, that's right. Pavel Chekov lit my fire. The Russian accent, the uniform. Hotness personified.

Chekov needs love - he took so much abuse. Consider the recurring jokes about his accent in the original series, Khan putting a mind-control earwig in his brain in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, and his life-threatening head injury in Star Trek IV: You Know, The One With Whales.

Bonus point: he was the best man in the wedding of George Takei (Mr. Sulu).

I had a crush on Michael J Fox when I was younger. It was Alex Keaton. Oh goodness I thought he was amazing.

About 5 years ago, I actually saw Michael. He gave a presentation at a seminar I had attended. What a life he's had...nothing like that of Alex Keaton :)
